Glacier Country is a group of 90 businesses who work together to let the world know about remote Glacier Country, New Zealand.

Glacier Country is part of the great untamed wilderness of the South Island and stretches from Okarito and Whataroa in the north, through Franz Josef Glacier and onto Fox Glacier in the South. The region provides access to some of the most spectacular landscapes in New Zealand including its highest mountains, longest glaciers, ancient rainforest, wildest rivers and most rugged coastlines.

Eat, Drink & be Merry

Glacier Country has dozens of excellent restaurants, cafes and bars, far more than you’d expect from any small town.

Our favorite is SnakeBite Brewery.  Located on the main street, next to the Supermarket.  Open from 7.30am for breakfast till late.

Along with SnakeBite both the Franz and Fox Glacier villages have a vibrant hospitality scene providing visitors with everything from simple takeaways to world-class five star dining.

Food and drink are always delivered with a friendly smile and usually with a stunning view of the mountains in the background.
